Los Angeles Boot Camps
Personal training is forever evolving with new concepts of training and conditioning. Standard training with barbells and dumbbells is becoming a fossilized concept of training as personal trainers find new ways to keep their clients motivated. Bodyweight training, kettlebells, resistance bands are the new concepts to name a few that are revolutionizing the industry. The newest edition to the training industry is the introduction of boot camps. Once known to be exclusive to the military, boot camps have been introduced to the training industry as the newest and most effective concept.
Boot Camps are very popular in the Los Angeles area with the favorable year round weather. Boot camp is group training on a larger scale. People can range from 10-15 for a small group, 15-25 for a medium size group, and 20-40 for a large group. Boot camps are becoming popular for the client and the trainer as well. Clients receive the benefits from one-on-one training but get to train at a cheaper price and for a longer period of time. Typical boot camps are 45 minutes to 1 hour. Private training is priced on the number of days and for how long a client trains. However, boot camps are cost effective by being priced by the month and training more days. For example, a boot camp can cost $299.99 a month and a client can train 3 to 4 days a week for an hour. Most boot camps are intense training with a lot of bodyweight exercises. Depending on the conditioning level of a client boot camps can incorporate kettlebells, dumbbells, or a TRX bodyweight trainer to keep the class fresh and innovative.
A client will feel better about joining a boot camp because for most people they are beginners in the fitness world so a big percentage of clients are on the same level. Private training, clients will feel intimidated because its just the trainer and the client and if it’s in a gym setting 9 times out of 10 the client will be nervous and afraid to train in front of people. Boot camps ease the feeling of intimidation. There are many people with different shapes and sizes but all have a common goal to be fit. Everybody can motivate and support each other and nobody will feel left out. Another component of boot camps is adding themes to each session. Themes such as “Just do it”, “Keep your body tight” are examples of motivational tactics to keep the clients interested. Adding a theme to a boot camp means there is a purpose to the exercises and the mentality of the clients will become strong.
As far as the training methods for boot camps its cardio mixed with resistance training. It’s like an aerobics class on steroids. There is a good mix of leg exercises, upper body exercises, and abdominal exercises. The good thing is all the body parts can be mixed together to create a full body workout and leaving the client feeling exhausted but motivated as well. As a trainer it’s a good feeling to know that he or she is able to help a large amount of people achieve a goal at one time and the trainer becomes motivated to push the clients to their full potential.
Boot camps are becoming popular in the fitness industry and may replace private training. Helping more than one person at one time is a good solution to an ever growing rate of obesity in the country. All Los Angeles based trainers should incorporate a boot camp into their business to help a people on a large scale. Boot camps may be demanding but they are rewarding in the end when clients get fit and they’re self esteem rises because they look like how they feel.
